MoleStrips™ DNA Tissue

The MoleStrips DNA Tissue Kit is being used together with the GeneMole to extract DNA from 1-10 mg of tissue samples. The obtained yield will highly depend on the composition of the tissue used. The kit has been tested on tissue samples from for instance human, mouse, chicken, fish, snails and parasites.
The following kit formats are available:
Product No. MG11-101: Convenience kit containing 32 MoleStrips and all required tips, tubes and caps. This kit supports isolation of genomic DNA from 32 different tissue samples.
Product No. MG11-102: Kit containing 64 MoleStrips supporting isolation of genomic DNA from 64 different tissue samples. Tips, tubes and caps can be ordered from VWR.
One MoleStrip contains all the reagents needed to purify genomic DNA from one tissue sample including magnetic beads in binding buffer, two different washing buffers, 70 % EtOH and elution buffer. The MoleStrips are sealed and the instrument pierces holes in the sealing during the protocol run.
The tissue samples are lysed in lysis buffer and Proteinase K before the lysate is placed in the GeneMole and the automated DNA extraction can start. Average yield from 10 mg mouse samples is in the range 20 µg/ml (for muscle) to 75 µg/ml (for liver). DNA purity, measured as OD A260 /A280, is in the range 1.80-2.00. Isolated genomic DNA is suitable for sensitive downstream applications.
