MoleStrips™ DNA Blood

The MoleStrips DNA Blood Kit is being used together with the GeneMole to extract DNA from human blood samples. The kit also works for animal blood samples from for instance sheep, cow, calf, pig, horse, canine and birds. Customers are also using this kit for samples like dried blood, buffy coat, saliva and buccal swabs.
The following kit formats are available:
Product No. MG10-101: Convenience kit containing 32 MoleStrips and all required tips, tubes and caps. This kit supports isolation of genomic DNA from 32 different blood samples.
Product No. MG10-102: Kit containing 64 MoleStrips supporting isolation of genomic DNA from 64 different blood samples. Tips, tubes and caps can be ordered from VWR.
One MoleStrip contains all reagents needed to purify genomic DNA from one blood sample including lysis buffer, magnetic beads, two different washing buffers and elution buffer. The individual MoleStrips are sealed and the instrument pierces holes in the foil during the run.
Genomic DNA can be purified from 100 µl or 200 µl mammalian blood. MoleStrips DNA Blood has proven to work for both fresh and frozen blood samples and with common blood anti-coagulants including EDTA, heparin and citrate. The yield of genomic DNA depends on sample volume and the number of white blood cells per ml. The system is flexible with respect to elution volume which can be set to 100 or 200 µl. A 200 µl human whole blood sample with a normal WBC count typically result in genomic DNA yields in the range 20-25 µg/ml and DNA purity, measured as OD A260 /A280, in the range 1.80-1.95. Isolated genomic DNA is suitable for sensitive downstream applications.
