The MoleStrips RNA Cells Kit is used together with the GeneMole instrument to purify RNA from cultured cells. The kit is developed for downstream reverse transcriptase PCR. The following kit formats are available:
MG12-101/731-3055: Convenience kit containing 32 MoleStrips and all required tips, tubes and caps. This kit supports isolation of RNA from 32 different cell samples.
MG12-102/731-3056: Kit containing 64 MoleStrips supporting isolation of RNA from 64 different cell samples. Tips, tubes and caps can be ordered from VWR.
One MoleStrip contains all reagents needed to purify RNA from one cell sample containing 1-2 million cells. The MoleStrips are sealed and the instrument pierces holes in the foil during the run.
Starting Sample
Due to differnt composition of cells the recommended input will vary between cell types. For the MoleStrips RNA Cells kit we generally recommend and input of 1-2 million cells. MoleStrips RNA Cells has proven to work for both fresh and frozen cell cultures.
Yield and Purity
The RNA yield will vary between differnt cells. The system is flexible with respect to elution volume which can be set to 50,100 or 200 µl. The yield typically range from 6-17 µg when the elution volume is specified as 100 µl and the extracted RNA typically has a RIN numbers ranging between 8.6 and 10.0
As no current method can guarantee that the RNA is completely free of DNA the RNA samples should be digested with DNase before reverse transcriptase PCR
